Welcome to my ramble of today.
Today’s ramblings will be focusing on energy management, in particular the wastage of energy. You, the reader, may be thinking 'here we go another environmentalist dick-sneeze who wants to tell us how to think'. Well you would be wrong, today I am looking at the wastage of the energy of your life.
Here’s the low down. You eat, you gain energy, you walk, you use energy. Your energy is a finite resource and you have to allocate it wisely. You must know that someday you are going to die. Until you know that, you are useless. For example perusing goals that may prove fruitless is a waste of energy, unless you require time, and thus energy, to find out that these goals are fruitless. Be it that job that goes nowhere, that girl or guy you are seeing who you can barely tolerate or that uni course that seems somewhat dull and vague. All these things should be considered for their value and perhaps reallocate your pursuits elsewhere.
So throughout the day you are presented with choices, do I go out drinking with my friends, do I exercise, do I stay back at work and do overtime, do I ask that particular someone out, or do I read the newspaper? All could be good or bad choices, depending on the situation and your outlook. They could have distant or immediate positive results. What you have to weigh up is how positive, and how long will it take you to reach the result.
That university degree might take four years to obtain, but when you become a suit climbing the corporate ladder and rolling in money you look back and see that was four years of correctly managed energy. Or after three years you could have dropped out and be writing some crap-ass guide on how to correctly manage your time.
That date you go on may lead to marriage and a family, or some hot summer romance, either or both could be good or it could lead to you waking up in some dark alley with no pants, a throbbing headache and a sharp pain where your kidneys used to be. They key is to work out if your expenditure of energy is being beneficial to your life goal or not. If not abort said activity and do something else.
The moral of the story is manage your energy correctly, and have a goal. Try and reach your goals the quickest way you can. However that doesn’t mean lock yourself in a room and study your face off, or work twelve hour shifts at work. It means enjoy what you do, and do it well. If you don’t enjoy something, don’t do it.
This rambling was brought to you from the inspirational numbingness of Bundaberg Rum, chosen beverage of the bogan and socially inept.
